DoubleQuotes consist of two quotes (or images), juxtaposed. They are intended to work in a way that I learned from haiku: as thoughts dropped into the mind-pond, not so much for their own sakes as for their concentric ripples and the interference patterns between them.
DoubleQuotes are a subset of my analytic work using concepts drawn from Herman Hesse's Glass Bead Game and my playable variants, the HipBone Games.
This item in the series sets the Israeli policy of targeted assassination, here explicitly disapproved by Amnesty International, in the context of the Jewish (Talmudic) injunction, haba lehorgekha hashkem lehorgo -- which arguably offers ancient religious sanction for the contemporary notion of pre-emptive strikes...
The IDF doesn't exactly quote Talmud in support of its policies -- but the conjunction of these two quotes nevertheless seems suggestive.

I'm associated with the Center for Millennial Studies at Boston University, and worked as Senior Analyst at The Arlington Institute, a beltway think tank in Virginia, on the social impact of large and surprising changes.
